'Street Fighter' Movie Pulled from Release Calendar
Set for a March 20, 2026, release with director Kitao Sakurai, 'Street Fighter' has been completely pulled from Sony's calendar.
Following the exit of the Philippou Brothers (Talk to Me) as directors in June 2024, despite Sony reserving Mar. 20, 2026 as a release date, news surrounding the film adaptation of Street Fighter went quiet. Then, in Feb. 2025, a new director was announced — Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show, The Passage). It was a bold and exciting update and one which has now been trampled upon with the news that Sony Pictures has completely pulled Street Fighter from its release calendar for now, removing it from that 2026 release date. Sorry, Street Fighter fans. K.O. indeed.
