'Novocaine' Directors Made Big Changes to the Script

Filmmakers Dan Berk and Robert Olsen spoke to MovieWeb about how they tackled the different original draft by writer Lars Jacobsen.

'Novocaine' Directors Made Big Changes to the Script

Maybe you've already seen the trailer for Paramount's acclaimed new action movie from directors Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, Novocaine, which hits theaters on March 14. There's a chance it caused you to wince, go wide-eyed... and maybe even chuckle at least once or twice. The latest Jack Quaid project is indeed chock-full of laugh-out-loud moments as it chronicles a young lad with an exaggerated version of a real-life condition that prevents him from feeling physical pain — which has its drawbacks (think about blood loss, for instance). It's a wild ride, and MovieWeb recently caught up with the directors of Novocaine in-person in Los Angeles to learn more about how they achieved such an effectively comedic tone amid all the gory violence — especially given that the original draft of the script was quite different.
