There was a recent period piece thriller called Mothers' Instinct, which starred Academy Award winners Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain and is a remake of a film of the same name. On the surface, it looks like a film poised to be a critical and audience hit. Yet it briefly played in only six theaters in the U.S. and others across the world. When it debuted on Hulu, it quickly rose to number two on the Hulu Top 10 chart.
