Disney+ 'Tiana' Series Canceled as Animation Studio Moves Away From Streaming Content
The 'Tiana' series, announced in December 2020, has been scrapped by Walt Disney Animation as the studio shifts focus back to theatrical films.
Despite announcing plans for a Princess and the Frog series, titled Tiana, back in 2020, Disney has pulled the plug on the animated follow-up. In addition, Walt Disney Animation is scrapping all development plans for content on Disney+. Walt Disney Animation joins Pixar Animation, Marvel Studios, and Lucasfilm as divisions of the Walt Disney Company that are focusing less on streaming projects and reinvesting their energy in theatrical films, a far cry from where the studio was just five years ago.
