However, it turned out to be No. 1 Dog Man easily outperforming Companion to win the top spot en route to opening the month of February. Director Peter Hastings’ animated superhero comedy made an estimated $36 million domestically, while the new horror rom-com settled for the silver medal with only $9.5 million (per The Numbers).
